7 Steps to a Great Job!
A Career Development and Employment Training Program for Organizations Serving Youth, ages 16 to 22.
If your organization serves youth, you may be faced with some of the following challenges:
-
With limited staff resources, you may find it difficult to find innovative ways to meet the complex needs of your clients.
-
The number of clients you serve may be increasing while resources are declining.
-
Your staff may feel that they do not have the tools, training, or education to effectively support your clients in getting a great job, a key to self-sufficiency.
-
You or your staff may find yourselves repeating the same information over and over to each client individually.
-
Someone on your team may be spending time at work researching job search information and trying to piece together handouts to help your clients.
-
Without effective tools and techniques, your staff may create a negative, demotivating environment for your clients, rather than being a positive force for change.
Many organizations which serve youth recognize the critical role which employment plays in building self-sufficiency. Whether focused on prevention or intervention, organizations providing supportive services to address homelessness, substance abuse, aging out of foster care, or other social service issues, need to also prepare youth for employment.
The "7 Steps to a Great Job!" program is designed to provide youth and young adults with the skills to explore career options, find a job that is aligned with their interests and skills, and be a great employee on the job. By incorporating state-of-the-art technology tools, including a secret Facebook Job Club, YouTube teen/young adult success stories, and pre/post interview video coaching, participants are actively engaged in learning career development skills that will serve them throughout their adult lives.
The "7 Steps to a Great Job!" will provide your staff with the tools to implement a comprehensive, step-by-step training program to teach youth the strategies to build a short and long-term career plan and get a great job. In addition to providing a consistent, proven, high quality program for your clients, the productivity of your staff will increase dramatically for two reasons:
-
They can serve more clients at one time by offering workshops in a group setting.
-
Their time spent working with clients one-on-one will be more productive since the youth will be more prepared to explore their job search or education and training options when meeting with staff individually.
